You survived The Hotel. You beat Figure, you outran Seek, and you thought you were safe.
Then you took the elevator down to The Mines (Floor 2).
Floor 2 is not just “harder”; it completely changes the rules. The entities here don’t just kill you; they troll you. They hide on ceilings, swarm you in the dark, and chase you in vehicles. If you are tired of dying to random giggles in the dark, here is your survival dossier for every new threat in January 2026.
🤡 The “Giggle” (The Ceiling Camper)
This is the most common annoyance in The Mines.
- The Sign: A distinct, high-pitched giggle sound (like a hyena).
- Location: They hang on the ceiling, right above doorways or loot chests.
- The Attack: If you walk under them, they latch onto your face. They deal damage over time and stun you.
- How to Survive:
- Look Up: Before entering a room, scan the ceiling.
- Glowsticks: Throw a Glowstick at them. It stuns them and makes them fall.
- Shaking: If one grabs you, wiggle your mouse/screen violently to shake it off.
- Pro Tip: You don’t have to kill them. You can just walk around them if you see them first.
🦇 Gloombats (The Light Haters)
In The Hotel, light was your friend (Screech). In The Mines, light is your enemy.
- The Sign: You will see moths fluttering around lights, or hear a screeching noise.
- The Mechanic: Gloombats are attracted to light sources (Flashlights, Lighters, Lamps).
- The Attack: If you shine a light, they swarm you and deal rapid damage.
- How to Survive:
- Lights OFF: When you hear them, turn off your flashlight immediately. Crouch and move in the dark.
- Environment: Break the lightbulbs in the room (interaction key) to stop them from spawning.
🧱 The Grumble (The Nest Defenders)
These are the “mini-bosses” of the nest areas.
- Appearance: They look like smaller, angrier versions of the Figure, but with massive teeth.
- Location: Found in the “Nest” rooms (fleshy, gross corridors).
- The Mechanic: They patrol specific paths. Unlike Figure, they have eyes. They can see you.
- How to Survive:
- Stealth: Crouch walking reduces their detection range.
- Glowsticks: This is their weakness. Throw a glowstick in the opposite direction. They are attracted to the bright light and will run towards it, clearing the path for you to escape.
- Don’t Run: Running alerts the whole swarm.
👁️ Seek (The Minecart Chase)
The hallway chase from Floor 1 is gone. Now, it’s Temple Run on steroids.
- The Event: You will enter a long tunnel with minecart tracks. Seek spawns behind you.
- The Mechanic: You must control a minecart.
- A / D: Lean Left or Right to balance on curves.
- Crouch: Duck under obstacles.
- Interact: Switch tracks to avoid dead ends.
- The 2026 Strategy: Focus on the Guiding Light (the blue sparkles). It always shows the correct track switch. If you try to memorize the path, you will fail because it’s procedurally generated now.
👹 Figure (The Mines Variant)
He is back, but he works differently here.
- The Encounter: Usually happens in the generator rooms or the final extraction.
- The Change: His hearing is even more sensitive, but his pathing is more erratic due to the complex terrain of the mines.
- Crucifix: Yes, the Crucifix still works on him, but it only holds him for about 5 seconds. Use it only as a last resort to open a gate.
🔋 Item Management in Floor 2
Survival in The Mines depends on your inventory.
- Glowsticks (MVP): These are infinite (max stack). Use them to check deep pits, distract Grumbles, and stun Giggles. Never have zero glowsticks.
- Laser Pointer: Found in Floor 2. Use it to “snipe” Giggles from a distance or point out keys to teammates without walking there.
- Battery Packs: The Mines are huge. Your flashlight will die. Save batteries for the “Dark Rooms” where Gloombats live.
